Supportive Family

My family~

Wow have they supported me. When I started dancing in my diapers to the Beach Boys, they understood and enrolled me at 4 in ballet. Then at 6 in gymnastics and at 8 in every other form of dance. They spent so much money and time driving me to my lessons 5 times a week for 8 years. And when I decided to quit dancing at my studio, they understood that it was because of the politics and not because I hated dance. Those 12 years of dance lessons were not wasted. I've still kept up on my dancing by taking at least one class at all times and two during the summer. Dancing is not just a hobby for me anymore. It is a way to stay in shape, and has become my favorite thing to do, whether in my room, at dance class, or on stage. That feeling that you get when you're about to go on stage and put forth your emotions in front of a large group of people is amazing. And then to walk off stage and see your parents there cheering and smiling after every single performance is so comforting. So to all you parents out there, thank you, especially mine. And to those of you who think that dancing is a waste of time, I urge you to reconsider. Dancing strengthens the mind, body, and soul and can be an outlet to your child for their whole entire life. I leave you with this, to touch your heart as it did mine.

"I hope you never lose your sense of wonder. You get your fill to eat, but always keep that hunger. May you never take one single breath for granted. God forbid love ever leave you empty handed. I hope you still feel small when you stand by the ocean. Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens. Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance...I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance. Never settle for the path of least resistance. Living might mean taking chances, but they're worth taking. Lovin' might be a mistake, but it's worth making. Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter. When you come close to selling out reconsider. Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance...I hope you still feel small when you stand by the ocean. Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens. Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, dance. I hope you dance." ~ LeeAnn Womack

Friends of a Dancer

Now generally, I would say that I feel sorry for you. I know it must be embarrasing to sit in the car, eat dinner with, or walk down the street with someone who won't stay still and be normal. But then again, you like it! I mean, how else could you put up with it? And I bet, you even join in sometimes. You can understand us sometimes, when you're in such a bad mood that you want to jump up and down and scream and loose yourself. So in a sense, you're one of us. We've pulled you in to our little fantasy world away from the troubles of life and admit it, you're enjoying it. Granted sometimes we go a little too far. But that's where you come in. You pull us back to reality and let us know how big of a fool we're making ourselves, much less you. So, I just want to say, "Thank you!" Because without you, we'd be crazy and you'd still be sad.

Dance Fiends

Dear Dance Fiends~

Have you ever had the urge to just get up an dance? I have. Especially when that certain song starts and you can feel it in your veins. You have to hold on to your legs and clamp your throat so you don't start tapping to the rhythm and humming the song.

Personally, I love to dance and sing in the car. And I mean all out facial expressions, hand movements, head shaking, and twisting. I've gotten some crazy people who think me quite the spectacle. (I guess I should mention that I am in the car a lot commuting from the OC to LA) It has become almost unusual to not have some random car pull up next to me and gawk for a few miles. Sometimes honking or trying to run me off the road. And yes, that last thing has happened. I don't really care though. I love loosing myself on the road and its my car so I'm going to indulge myself.

Well that's all for now... As the Dixie Chicks say, "Some days you gotta dance, live it up when you get the chance. When the world don't make no sense and you're feeling just a little too tense. You gotta loosen up those chains and dance!"

So You Think You Can Dance

So I'm a new fan of this reality show. Generally I try to steer away from such drama, but this show is different. Its got the flair of American Idol paired with a diversity and culture of the world. Not to mention dance! I've been dancing since I was four, so its no wonder I'm becoming a "So You Think You Can Dance" addict. Oh and a couple of my friends were on the show in the audience last night. So jealous. That's all for now!
